Student Internship Opportunities
Students majoring in social work, human services, education, psychology, or early childhood development, for example, can have many opportunities to apply their knowledge from coursework through working with FACETS. We are also open to other majors and students with a general interest in nonprofits.
Fall Internships
Youth Programming
- Media Smart -
Media Smart is designed to teach youth ages 11-13 about the complex media world around them, and how it can affect their health--especially in the areas of nutrition and physical activity. Interns should be intereste in heling 11-13 year olds become critically aware of how media can affect their nutrition and physical activity choices. They should also hlep young people build the skills to make good decisions about being physically active and eating nutritiously in daily life. Internship will be about 2-4 hours per week or 10-20 hours per month (including planning time).
- Boys Groups - An intern is needed to facilitate a Boys Group program with male middle school aged youth. The program will consist of a variety of programs and field trips for the boys. The goals of the program are to enhance self-confidence, improve problem solving skills, allow youth to explore their interests, and improve participants' awareness and ability to avoid risky behaviors. Responsibilities may include tasks such as curriculum development, implementing the program, and tracking youth involvement and outcomes. Planning schedule is flexible during regular business hours, but must be available during after school program time. Internship will be about 2-4 hours per week or 10-20 hours per month (including planning time).
- Girls Group! Jr./Sr- An intern is needed to work with either female elementary, middle or high school aged youth in FACETS' Girl Power! Program. The program will consist of a variety of programs and field trips for the girls. The goals of the program are to enhance self-confidence, improve problem solving skills, allow youth to explore their interests, and improve participants’ awareness and ability to avoid risky behaviors. Responsibilities for interns may include tasks such as curriculum development, implementing the program, and tracking youth involvement and outcomes. Volunteers are asked to make a one hour time commitment per week for the duration of the program, and interns should expect about 2-4 hours a week or 10-20 hours per month (including planning time).
Resource Development
- Special Events and Resource Development Intern-Intern will work with the Resource Development Team (Director of Development, Assistant Director of Development, Volunteer Coordinator and Events and Donations Coordinator) to support FACETS primarily with special events planning and holiday drives coordination.
- Qualifications:
- Proficient using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to maintain confidentiality especially in regards to financial records
