The Hot Meals program is where FACETS got its start. Beginning in 1988, it is a no-barrier food distribution that provides a nutritious meal every night, 365 days of the year, and Sunday breakfast as well.
FACETS founder Linda Wimpey worked with a few faith-based organizations to prepare and serve meals to the homeless living along Fairfax Boulevard, three nights a week.
Today FACETS works with more than 35 faith partners and organizations to get a daily hot meals out to anyone in need of food assistance.
This program is open to ALL in need.
In addition to providing free, nutritious food, Hot Meals also is an outreach opportunity for people in need of additional services and support, and allows us to build relationships in the community to better support homeless individuals.
Before March 2020, the program served an average of 90 meals each day. When COVID
-19 impacted our region, we had requests for up to 300 meals daily, and saw many new faces joining familiar ones at the three Hot Meals distribution sites.
As our regional response has lessened the impact of the pandemic, we are still in uncharted territory and remain firmly committed to being here for the neighbors who need us the most.
Just as when Hot Meals started, we will only ask, “How many meals do you need today?”

This is a true community effort, as more than 350 volunteers, including individuals, corporate partners, and faith organizations, have given 4,000 volunteer hours each year.
