How We Do It

At FACETS, we help individuals across the entire spectrum of need in Fairfax County. We meet our neighbors right where they are, whether they have a history struggling to maintain housing, or are facing the reality of becoming homeless for the first time.

The majority of our clients are employed, but due to the high cost of living in Fairfax, they are considered underemployed as their income is not sufficient to sustain themselves and their families. We help them navigate the appropriate services, create financial goals, and acquire more sustainable employment. Many of our clients have complex medical needs and require more intensive, prolonged support, for which our Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) team is here to help. We are seeing even more clients who are showing up to eviction court for the first time, unaware of their rights and afraid of losing their homes. Our Eviction Prevention team is at the courthouse every single week to connect tenants with other resources and let them know their rights.

Whatever their unique circumstances may be, we work with clients one on one to develop and implement a plan to restore a sense of security and balance in their lives, and equip them with the tools so they may begin to transform their own lives.

Our core stabilization services focus around four areas

Case Management

FACETS’ case managers help clients develop financial, housing, education and/or employment goals and assist them in applying for benefits and navigating services. Case Management services are ongoing as opposed to one-time emergency assistance.

Workforce Development & Financial Stability

Basic job readiness, resume-building, training, and ongoing coaching to encourage career planning and job retention, as well as basic financial education such as budgeting, saving, credit building, and free income tax preparation.

Permanent Supportive Housing

Safe, private homes and ongoing supportive services to ensure client success and the stability to ultimately move into another home independently.

Eviction Prevention

Rental assistance, explanation of and assistance in navigating the legal process of eviction to tenants, and communication with landlords to help people stay in their homes and maintain stability.
