Hypothermia Prevention and Response Program

The 2021-2022 Hypothermia Prevention Shelter season began December 1st and ran until April 1st. With temperatures dropping and COVID-19 posing additional risks, it was never more important to stand together as a community in service to our unsheltered neighbors. Since 2005, we have partnered with Fairfax County and our local faith communities to ensure that no one sleeps outside during the winter months. Before the pandemic, our faith partners opened their doors to offer warm places to sleep and eat. This year, we partnered with over 50 faith communities.
The doors were open to welcome our most vulnerable neighbors to a safe space where they found warm, socially distanced, sleeping areas and hot meals provided by our faith partners. FACETS’ round-the-clock staff remained on site offering individualized case management and support to help move our Hypothermia Shelter guests from homeless to housed.
During this crisis, with your support, FACETS has remained on the frontlines, dedicated to meeting the emergency and basic needs of our community’s most vulnerable.
