  • Community Development Advocate

    FACETS is hiring a mission-driven Education and Community Development Advocate (CDA). The ECD Advocate works within the Education and Community Development (ECD) department, which assesses the needs of diverse populations residing in public housing communities in Fairfax County. Education and Community Development (ECD) advocates will engage clients in areas such as, case management and adult/youth programming that work to serve and better strengthen the community’s abilities to walk up and out of poverty. ECD advocates will also be responsible for overseeing volunteer staff and ensuring the effective growth, learning and development of any interns placed within the department and their respective community centers.

    The position is visible to the general public and is subject to interruptions from walk-in traffic and telephone calls. High standards of courtesy, performance and respect for confidentiality are essential. Independent judgment is required for appropriate decision making, problem solving and priority setting.

  • Residential Counselor

    FACETS is hiring a part-time Resident Counselor (RC) 4:00 p.m. to 12:00am Saturday and Sunday for FACETS’ group homes serving chronically homeless individuals, who are medically vulnerable, located in Fairfax, VA. Under the direction of the Director of Supportive Housing, the RC will provide supportive counseling, community living skills training, medication monitoring, and crisis interventions to chronically homeless individuals in a group home setting. The RC is responsible for maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment while implementing programming to facilitate residents’ attainment of rehabilitation goals. RC directly teaches independent living skills through group and individual training sessions and provides transportation as necessary. The RC is responsible for providing staff coverage for the safety and security of residents, and the program at all times. Familiarity with the chronically homeless population and the “housing first” model is essential. The successful candidate will have experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness that are seriously mentally ill, actively using substances, and/or medically vulnerable. Significant independence of judgment and exceptional interpersonal skills are required in this position. A candidate bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.

    FACETS is looking for a dedicated and socially conscious Development Manager to assist in being a bridge between our generous community and our neighbors in need.  This full-time position represents an exciting and meaningful opportunity to help create stronger futures for Fairfax County’s most vulnerable and marginalized residents – children, families and individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty and food insecurity.  You will play an instrumental role as a member of a dedicated Resource Development team that works closely with our community’s most incredible and thoughtful supporters.

    The Development Manager is an integral member of Development & Communications Team, serving as the backbone of the operation by overseeing processes in place to cultivate, manage and steward donor, partner and volunteer relationships.  Additionally, the Development Manager conducts research, supports development events and programs, and represents the agency in the community. They must be enthusiastic about community service, detail-oriented and dedicated to ensuring delivery of donor services. Reports to the Senior Director of Development & Communications.

    An Opportunity Neighborhood (ON) utilizes a collective impact approach to help children, youth, and families reach their fullest potential through a strong academic foundation, family and community stability, and a culture of engagement, connectedness, and success. FACETS is the lead organization for ON-Annandale which is an established initiative (3 years old).  The Community Organizer will work in partnership with the Strategy Manager for that area and will have primary responsibility for engaging, building and growing intentional relationships with residents. The person must be fluent in both Spanish and English. The Community Organizer is a critical member of the ON team charged with engaging residents to create a community where—from cradle to career—every child and youth has the opportunity to access the resources needed to thrive.

    FACETS is looking for mission-driven person to join our team as the Strategy Manager for Opportunity Neighborhood—Centreville. The Strategy Manager plans, coordinates, and leads the Opportunity Neighborhood—Centreville initiative and will be a key part of the team responsible for driving the work forward, providing leadership and overall direction as well as supporting day-to-day communications and administration, community engagement, and data collection.

    An Opportunity Neighborhood (ON) is one where residents, schools, local government, community organizations, and businesses work collaboratively to help children, youth, and families reach their fullest potential through a strong academic foundation, family and community stability, and culture of engagement, connectedness, and success. The Strategy Manager for an ON site is responsible for the coordination of the Opportunity Neighborhood efforts—building and maintaining strong relationships with the community, including residents, volunteers, schools, county staff, non-profits, faith communities, and businesses. The focus of the work involves infrastructure, data and capacity-building in the five focal areas of the Opportunity Neighborhood: 1) Family and community engagement, 2) Connected and motivated youth, 3) School readiness and early childhood education, 4) Family wellness and stability, and 5) Workforce readiness, student career preparedness, and family literacy.
