Food Assistance Means More Than Just Groceries

“The Lorez Family has faced many challenges, especially with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their family of six includes daughter Cammie, who is intellectually and physically disabled, and confined to bed. The medical bills are astronomical. FACETS’ grocery and meal distributions have helped this family tremendously: having their food concerns being taken care of has enabled them to pay increasing monthly medical bills to care for their daughter. Our program that is helping to address food insecurity and childhood hunger has led to other familial success because money from their food budget is now being allotted to other expenses, such as medications, transportation costs, new clothing for growing children, and materials to keep the family thriving.”
