POSITION: Fairmont Gardens Community Center Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Opportunity Neighborhoods-Annandale Strategy Manager

LOCATION: In-Person, Annandale Virginia

FACETS is seeking a Community Center Coordinator to join the Opportunity Neighborhoods-Annandale team (ON-Annandale).  As part of this unit, the Center Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing shared space at Fairmont Gardens, maintain good relationships with agency partners who also use the space, keep accurate records of users, and ensure that the activities carried on at the center are driven by the residents’ interests and needs. The two main goals of the center are to provide a space where residents can build strong social connections and trust with each other, working together to achieve common goals that improve the quality of life for everyone in the neighborhood and to provide enrichment activities for children and youth, supporting academic achievement for youth and school readiness for younger children.

FACETS is a non-profit organization that opens doors by helping parents, their children, and individuals who suffer the effects of poverty in Fairfax County. We meet their emergency needs through our wrap around services and community partnerships, and help individuals and families experience safe and stable housing after years of uncertainty and instability. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Schedule all center activities and partner use of the center.
  • Open and close community center on evenings and weekends and track sharing of keyless entry code, updating code as needed.
  • Nurture partnerships and good communication with other agencies.
  • Maintain records on center use and ensure partners provide needed data for reporting.
  • Maintain safety protocols at all times.
  • Ensure space is clean and well-kept; handle all maintenance requests.
  • Attend ON-Annandale Community Council or Working Group meetings as needed.
  • Works cooperatively with all FACETS staff to meet FACETS goals; participate in agency and program staff meetings to share ideas and goals. This will be one morning a month outside of regular working hours.
  • Represent FACETS in the community, in accord with Agency Mission, Vision, and Code of Ethics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education or related field preferred; comparable work/volunteer experience will be considered.
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail and time management skills.  Must be able to effectively plan ahead for future program needs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Access or other database experience desired.
  • A passion for grassroots empowerment, community voice, and the ability to develop effective working relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive 16 passenger van.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background and Child Protective Services background checks.
  • Must be able to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as a regular schedule.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Salary Range:

$45,000 – $50,000 annually.
