LOCATION: In-Person, Fairfax, Virginia
FACETS is looking for a dedicated and socially conscious Development Manager to assist in being a bridge between our generous community and our neighbors in need. This full-time position represents an exciting and meaningful opportunity to help create stronger futures for Fairfax County’s most vulnerable and marginalized residents – children, families and individuals experiencing homelessness, poverty and food insecurity. You will play an instrumental role as a member of a dedicated Resource Development team that works closely with our community’s most incredible and thoughtful supporters.
The Development Manager is an integral member of Development & Communications Team, serving as the backbone of the operation by overseeing processes in place to cultivate, manage and steward donor, partner and volunteer relationships. Additionally, the Development Manager conducts research, supports development events and programs, and represents the agency in the community. They must be enthusiastic about community service, detail-oriented and dedicated to ensuring delivery of donor services. Reports to the Senior Director of Development & Communications.

FACETS is a non-profit organization that opens doors by helping parents, their children, and individuals who suffer the effects of poverty in Fairfax County. We meet their emergency needs through our wrap around services and community partnerships, and help individuals and families experience safe and stable housing after years of uncertainty and instability. Responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of fundraising and communication strategies including face-to-face solicitation, online giving, direct marketing campaigns, special events and proposals.
- Work closely with the Senior Director of Development and Communications and Events and Communications Manager to manage DonorPerfect CRM database, including updates to donor and prospect records, donor and gift entry, prospect research and producing reports and lists.
- Create timely donor acknowledgement letters. Share prompt and meaningful gratitude with donors according to assigned gift range/donor segmentation.
- Support outreach for fundraising campaigns and activities.
- Evaluate in-kind donation process to understand all programmatic needs and ensure efficiency. Create a comprehensive tool to track progress and record outreach efforts.
- Respond to donation inquiries and ensure items are available to program staff as needed including but not limited to the emergency pantry, household items, etc.
- Regularly communicate with FACETS program teams on special in-kind needs and conduct outreach for on-going and special in-kind campaigns and efforts.
- Assist with seasonal supply drives, including Back-to-School, Thanksgiving and Holiday Drives.
- Work in partnership with the team to support all events including signature events, major donor cultivation and appreciation events, program events/activities and recruitment and stewardship events (such as open houses, tours, Lunch and Learns, etc.).
- Representing the organization in the community as needed.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- A passion for making a difference!
- Highly motivated, resourceful, flexible, and possesses a positive attitude and sense of humor.
- Creative, collaborative, energetic team player with excellent people skills and experience collaborating in a diverse and dynamic team.
- Strong verbal and writing skills, including the ability to interact and communicate clearly effectively and professionally with internal and external audiences.
- Exhibits compassion and empathy; works well with people from all ethnic, social, economic, sexual orientation and religious backgrounds.
- Ability to think strategically, multi-task, prioritize, respond promptly and meet deadlines. Willingness to “roll up the sleeves” and get tasks done.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally as needed.
Preferred:
- Experience with CRMs and donation platforms.
- Experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness, food insecurity and/or low-income populations.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 20 pounds at times.
Salary Range:
$50,000 – $60,000 per year.
