Position Summary:
Are you passionate about leading strong teams and making a meaningful impact in your community? As the Shelter Case Management Supervisor, you will play a key leadership role in advancing our mission to prevent and end homelessness at Bailey’s Community Shelter. In this collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will guide and develop a team of Case Managers through effective supervision, coaching, and training to ensure consistent, high-quality, client-centered services.
You will manage caseload distribution, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with program outcomes and contractual requirements. Your leadership will help identify housing barriers and connect individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness with the right services at the right time. Through strong communication and coordination with operations staff, referral partners, landlords, tenants, and community providers, you will expand access to critical resources and support.
Above all, you will advocate for clients and link them to essential services—including behavioral health care, substance use treatment, housing opportunities, financial assistance, and skill-building programs. We meet their emergency needs through our wrap around services and community partnerships and help individuals and families experience safe and stable housing after years of uncertainty and instability. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct supervision, guidance and training to Shelter and Outreach Case Managers to ensure effective service delivery and professional development.
- Monitors case management caseloads and assigns cases to Case Managers to ensure balanced caseloads and effective client support.
- Ensures service delivery aligns with performance measures and complies with all contractual requirements.
- Assesses the housing barriers of individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness to identify their housing and service needs.
- Maintains consistent verbal and written communication with case managers, operations staff, tenants, landlords, referral sources, collaborating agencies, debtors, and creditors to ensure effective coordination and support.
- Advocates for and assist clients in accessing a range of services, including mental health and substance use treatment, housing referrals, financial assistance, home-based support, training, medical care, mentoring, and socialization opportunities.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in shelter or housing programs, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage large, diverse teams effectively.
- Excellent crisis management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.
- Knowledge of community resources related to homelessness, housing, mental health, and health services.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and writing, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Understanding HMIS reporting, data entry, and data quality.
- Experience managing a team of 10+ staff, ideally in a social services or housing context.
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, including Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work on a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, good driving record, and personal car insurance.
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van.
- Must pass criminal and Child Protective Services background checks
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to attend occasional meetings at other FACETS office locations within Fairfax County, including 3 annual organization-wide fundraising events each year.
Salary Range:
$60,000 – $65,000 annually
