Summer Back To School Drive.

Everywhere you look, the Back to School sales have started! At FACETS we want to make sure that EVERY child has all the school supplies they need to be successful in the Fall and that starts NOW, with our FACETS Back to School Drive! Featured Volunteer Opportunity: Summer Camp Drivers

Summer Camp Drivers

Summer Camp is a great way for many youth to enjoy your summer. This year, FACETS’ program participants will have an opportunity to participate in fun and meaningful summer camp activities and we need your help.  Volunteer Drivers are needed transport youth from the Next Steps Family Program to summer camp this summer.  Details of the opportunity are listed below.
Purpose
Volunteers are needed to transport homeless households to and from summer camps with a FACETS’ provided van. Pick up begins at the Next Steps Family Program Shelter units and drop off takes place at various summer camp locations in Fairfax county. Pick up from the summer camp program and transporation back to the Next Steps Family program units is also needed.
KeyResponsibilities
  • Willing to support the mission of FACETS.
  • Provides transportation to program participants to and from summer camplocations from the Next Steps Family Program shelter units.
  • Fill up the FACETS’ van with gas when necessary with FACETS provided card.
  • Report any FACETS’ van concerns to the Program Director of Family HousingStabilization.
Time Commitment
Shifts are Monday-Friday from 8:00-9:00 a.m. and/or Monday-Friday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. June 26-August 18, 2017. This schedule can bebroken into shifts and modified for several days a week if not all days can be covered.
Qualifications
  • Ability to work with a diverse population, including clients with criminalbackgrounds, households with children, limited English ability, mental healthproblems, etc.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to frequently change priorities.
  • Positive and professional attitude and demeanor.
  • Self-reliant problem solver and team player.
  • At least 21 years old with a clean driving record.
  • Must be over 21 years old.
