Food Assistance
FACETS as an organization has its roots in fighting hunger. In 1988, our founder Linda Wimpey saw a need in her community and stepped up to provide hot food for neighbors, the very start of our Hot Meals program.
Today, we are still committed to feeding people every day, 365 days a year. Below are the key programs we offer to ensure our neighbors do not go hungry.
Our Services
-
Hot Meals
The FACETS Hot Meals program serves hot food to the Fairfax community every night—365 days a year—and twice on Sundays in two locations with heightened need in Fairfax County. We work with more than 50 faith partners and organizations to get daily meals out to anyone in need of food assistance. This program is open to all in need.
-
Food Distribution
Every other week, FACETS offers fresh produce and essential staples like milk, eggs, meat, oil for families in need through our Education and Community Development (ECD) Centers. Families will receive diapers at this time as well. We also hold a larger monthly distribution in Alexandria where we pass out thousands of pounds of groceries to members of our community—no questions asked.
-
Food Pantries
More than 2,000 people a year receive food and supplies from our emergency pantry. It is managed and stocked by FACETS volunteers. We gladly accept donations of non-perishable food, diapers, and household and hygiene items. For more information about what donations we can accept in our pantry, please contact development@facetscares.org
